Safety Alerts
Notices
Sit / Lie ordinance is a hot button topic especially in merchant / business corridors. Officers are actively engaging persons who are sitting on the sidewalk or who are sleeping on the street and assessing their situation for referral to assistance facilities or jail.
Call 553-0123 or 311 if you are dealing with a situation in your neighborhood where the streets and sidewalks are being blocked or impeded by persons sitting or lying for no reason.
This is not directed solely at those persons classified as homeless, but includes persons drinking alcohol in public, engaged in begging or entertainment and their presence violates the law.
