Latest Threat to Height Limits
Comments delivered to the Land Use Committee and the Planning Commission by members of the Aquatic Park
Neighbors resulted in a significant reduction in the scope of proposed city-wide legislation. The legislation would
have increased the height limit of buildings, allowing an extra five feet for buildings with commercial ground floors.
APN members believe that the added 5-foot option would have allowed a bad precedent in the city that ultimately
would have enabled all building heights to increase and thus negatively impact the character of our "shorter"
neighborhoods.
The legislation's sponsor, outgoing Supervisor Geraldo Sandoval, agreed to limit the 45-foot option to District 11
on a trial basis.
